Massage Therapy

Classic Massage 

This session integrates the classic skills of Swedish, Deep Tissue and Myofascial massage to manually increase blood and lymph flow, decrease pain and tension in the muscles, and increase flexibility and relaxation. This is a great entry point if you are new to massage, as well as great for health maintenance and to enhance pre/post sports performance.

Oncology Massage
Specifically designed to address the needs of those living with cancer, oncology massage is an approach to massage therapy based in both compassion and specialized massage treatments to help people manage their experience with cancer.  Research shows that oncology massage helps improve quality of life.  Benefits include improved relaxation, sleep, immune function and scar tissue mobilization as well as relieving anxiety, pain, fatigue, nausea and peripheral neuropathy.

As an oncology massage therapist I’m trained to meet each person where they are in their experience with cancer and to apply a highly individualized massage treatment to comfort, nurture and support you in your process. Each treatment is modified according to the full spectrum of cancer-related issues: the physical, psycho-social and emotional consequences of cancer. In addition, your individual goals are considered as well as aspects of the disease and cancer treatment side effects.

Prenatal Massage

Using an appropriate combination of classic massage techniques and energy balancing, this massage helps ease the many changes, and possible strain and pain, which occur during pregnancy.  The session will increases relaxation and well-being for both mother and child.

Combining classic massage techiques and energy balancing we focus on some of the most stressed and over-used parts of the body  to create a greater sense of calm, clarity, and comfort.  It will specifically help decrease sinus congestion, headaches, plantar fasciitis and increase flexibility in the many joints of the neck, wrists, hands, ankles and feet.

Aromatherapy

May be added to any treatment to promote relaxation, improve digestion, increase mental clarity, promote relaxation and re-energize, among there many uses. Plant-based medicine has been employed in healing for centuries and will be used to support the specific goals of each particular session, when desired.

Geriatric Massage

Geriatric massage therapy is designed to address the specific needs of the elderly population. This type of massage for the elderly uses gentle and appropriate application of massage techniques and can include passive stretching and a light oil or lotion to permit your muscles to be worked on without causing excessive friction to the skin. These techniques can help enhance blood circulation, combat depression, improve balance and flexibility, reduce the pain of arthritis, increase joint mobility, improve posture, and encourage overall well-being.  Geriatric massage can be especially helpful for maintaining and improving overall health as we age. It also has been shown to relieve anxiety and provide comfort, especially to touch-deprived elderly clients.

Energy Balancing

This session helps to open and balance the subtle energies in the body through a combination of Reflexology, CranioSacral, Shiatsu Pressure Point Therapy, Polarity Therapy, and Reiki.  This work is excellent for addressing physical discomfort and pain, and for restoring the bodies’ natural flow of energy, which gets disrupted by stress, illness, dis-ease and by the challenges we face in our everyday life experiences.  Opening and increasing the energy flow in the physical body, energy balancing work creates ease and vitality in the body/mind, supporting the overall system to function more efficiently.

Heartworks LomiLomi

A traditional style of Lomilomi originating on the island of Maui this 'Old Style' Lomilomi is a deeply therapeutic full-body massage designed to flush the lymphatic system, releasing stuck or blocked energy in the body.  The opening strokes are often compared to getting massaged by ocean waves, and are designed to fully relax body and mind before delving into deeper work.  The use of conscious breath, by both giver and receiver, restores balance and opens the heart creating a profound sense of
well being. 

Temple LomiLomi

A style of Lomilomi brought forth by Kahuna Abraham Kawaii based on the healing methods of various healers and Kahunas from the island of Kauai. Long, rhythmic, full-body forearm strokes flow uninterrupted inviting you into a trance-like state where deep inner healing can occur.  This is a shamanic journey through bodywork.

Movement

Nia Technique Classes

The Nia Technique is a non-impact movement practice that blends dance arts, martial arts and healing arts.  It empowers people of all shapes, sizes, ages and physical conditions - from beginners to athletes – by adapting to individual needs and abilities.   Every class offers a unique combination of 52 moves that work the main areas of the body: the base, the core and the extremities. Practicing Nia creates overall wellness and body-mind fitness by engaging participants senses and teaching how to listen and respond to your bodies’ needs.  Nia gives people permission to play, and to more creatively connect with themselves and others. Nia is done barefoot, or with dance shoes, in comfortable clothing to eclectic, soul-stirring world music – leaving one feeling totally alive!

Moment-by-Moment

Mindfulness is about putting the sources of our stress in perspective and learning tools with which to relate to our stress with increased effectiveness and wisdom.  Mindfulness-based awareness practices help us learn to pay attention and live fully in the ever-present moment.  This present moment being the only time we ever have to effect change, to enjoy our life, and to see things as they really are.  Mindfulness practices create resiliency to deal with the constant change, the conflicts, the set-backs, and the surprises that line the paths of all of our lives. Mindfulness helps us to proactively create happiness, wellness and harmony.
